Combining Digital Literacy with the improvement of English Language Skills.

Combining Digital Literacy with the improvement of English Language Skills.

The English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) project has launched with innovative enhancements, integrating basic computer lessons to address digital inclusion. In collaboration with Coventry City Council's CovConnects team; Language barriers, especially within the African migrant community are recognized as a significant hurdle to digital inclusion. Thus, combining digital literacy with the improvement of English Language Skills both spoken and written has proven to be a strategic focus for SSCIC. Evelyn Teiko and Kofi Folson have been instrumental in executing this initiative. The National Lotteries Community Fund has provided funding for this project. However, ongoing success depends on securing additional funding and logistical support.

SKILLS DEVELOPMENT for youth and youth adults aiming to build careers

The Project has made significant strides, leading to the development of two key focus areas: one for youth and youth adults aiming to build careers and another centered on apprenticeship and adult vocational entrepreneurship development. Two dynamic youth forums have been held with Musa Christopher and Flojoe Nsiah Sarbeng leading engaging sessions. Dr. Ken Asare continues to spread the apprenticeship and vocational entrepreneurship agenda. Notably successful sessions were organized in collaboration with Resurrection Power and Living Bread Ministries, Coventry as well as with the youth of Church of Pentecost Coventry PIWC.
